Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø
‘Dystopian Dancing (for amplified trombone and object orchestra)’
‘Dystopian Dancing (for amplified trombone and object orchestra)’
A Norwegian trombonist and sound artist based in Berlin, Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø’s new solo project ‘Dystopian Dancing’ uses heavily amplified trombone, analogue electronics and occasional field recordings, and undulates between claustrophobic tension and moments of ecstatic release.
Breath is the core of the project, and through a microphone based setup he attempts to invert the physicality of the trombone, turning air (either slow and warm or fast and compressor-like) and inherently low volume material into massive sound.
His collaborative projects include duos with Audrey Chen (BEAM SPLITTER), Daniel Lercher and JD Zazie, large group Skadedyr, new music ensemble Aksiom and a myriad of collaborations with improvisers, visual artists, dancers, entities from around the world.

Audrey Chen
Using the cello, voice and occasional analog electronics, Chen’s work delves deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. A large component of her music is improvised, is completely un-processed and her approach to this is extremely personal and visceral. Her playing explores the combination and layering of an analog synthesizer, preparations and traditional and extended techniques in both the voice and cello. She works to join these elements into a singular ecstatic personal language.
For nearly two decades, her predominant focus has been her solo work with the cello, voice and electronics, but she has more recently, in the last four years, begun to shift back towards the exploration of the voice as a primary instrument.

F. Ampism
Paul Wilson’s long-running solo project, in which he plays with an ever-evolving collage of audio images.

The Burbling Mind
Originally formed as a long distanced, sonic channeling into the the mind of Belgium artist Ludo Mich (setting the mood for a Brighton screening of Willie Stewart’s Ludo doc), The Burbling Mind’s Karen Constance & Dylan Nyoukis, James Parsons and Al Strachan were last seen at Colour Out Of Space 2019 and are coming together for a third time for more group think via electronics, tapes, percussion, voice and cornet.
