Explore improvising and composing with a full gamelan featuring augmented instruments and light patterns.

Try your hand at playing traditional Indonesian gongs, creating sound through photoresistors and resonances with speakers attached to instruments, to create a network of sound and light. The afternoon’s activities will lead to devising an audio-visual piece as a group.

No experience with gamelan or electronics necessary!

Please note that playing the gamelan typically involves sitting on the floor, and there may be some strobe-type effects as part of the workshop. If these aspects may affect your ability to attend the workshop or you have any additional access requirements, please contact cm@ardisson.net in advance.
