Last summer we forged a bond with a like-minded collective in France who were organising an ‘art ferry’ from Dieppe to Newhaven, and much Cross Channel fun ensued. This summer the diep~haven festival continues to build on this connection – the 2015 programme has a theme of ‘elsewhere’, and Lost Property have summoned up a suitably out-there response.
Scattered ritual improv group Thee Bald Knobbers will the lead proceedings in Newhaven, joined by marginally more colourful counterparts Thee Hairee Kuntz. Starting at the ferry terminal itself, the performance will bring festival goers into and around the obscure spaces of Newhaven Fort, culminating in a final blast in the middle of the fort’s grounds, and officially opening the festival. Exhibitions and events will continue for a month on both sides of the channel.
The parade and event are open and free to the public – so do come down if you fancy some ritualistic mid-summer mayhem.
